DESCRIPTION:Businesses Get involved with Liberty Amendments Month!\n\n \n\nGreat for YOUR business\, Great for OUR Community!\n\n \nIf your business is interested in hosting an event or fundraiser for the Liberty Amendments Month\, and you would like to kick around some ideas with other businesses\, please join us for a business-brainstorming event on:\n\n\n\nTuesday\, March 15\, 11:30 - 12:30PM or\n\nWednesday\, March 23\, 5-6PM\n\n\n\nAll businesses who participate will be recognized through the Town of Vienna and the VBA marketing!\n\n \n\n\nWhat is Liberty Amendments Month?\n\nLiberty Amendments month kicked off in 2021 to bring our community together to foster mutual respect and understanding and to celebrate the Constitutional Amendments that give all citizens a say in how they are governed\, regardless of their culture or station in life. The month commemorates the passage of the 13th\, 14th\, 15th and 19th Amendments\, which granted full rights to citizens who were previously excluded from the U.S. Constitution. \n\n \n\nLast year\, 22\,000 people attended more than 65 educational and commemorative events in the inaugural celebration from Juneteenth to Liberty Amendments Day\, a Town holiday.\n\n \n\nThis year's event will start on June 18 and run through July 19\, 2022. Each week will focus on one of the Liberty Amendments. More details and a full calendar of Liberty Amendments Month events will be published here in Spring 2022. \n\n \n\nMore about the Liberty Amendments\n\nThe 13th Amendment abolished slavery while the 14th Amendment\, in response to issues faced by former slaves\, addresses citizenship rights and equal protection under the law. The 15th Amendment extended the right to vote to all men regardless of "race\, color\, or previous condition of servitude\," and the 19th Amendment extended voting rights to women. \n\n \n\nGet involved\n\nThe Town encourages community organizations and businesses to create events that celebrate our equality\, while warming hearts\, uplifting spirits and uniting our community. Liberty Amendments Month may be celebrated with children's programming\, entertainment\, lectures\, performances\, themed restaurant specials\, museum exhibits\, films\, concerts\, guided tours and more.
